The Used

Bert McCracken- vocals
Jeph Howard- bass
Branden Steineckert- drums
Quinn Allman- guitar/vocals
-The band is from Ormen, Utah and has surmounted
homelessness, substance abuse and close-minded environs to create compelling, sincere music, which they perform with style.
With crashing rythms, sublime melodies, candid lyrics and dynamic vocals, the songs themselves are direct accounts.
-The song "Maybe Memories" is a snapshot of Bert's
drug-occluded past. "Box full of sharp objects" is a creative outlet and "On my own" is an acoustic heart-break ballad that
actually screams the pain. "Blue and yellow" captures Bert's friendship with Quinn and "The taste of ink" is basically the
story behind the band.
-"Music is our place to break out and just say
fuck it all, do what you want, be the person you are with no fuckin' rules" says drummer Branden.
-Their live experience is indeed visceral one. Every
note, every scream and every leap carries the possibility of a laceration. "Sometimes there's no way in hell I can keep it
down. I just love to scream in people's faces and sometimes it makes me puke!" says Bert McCracken.

"I guess it's okay I puked the day away. I guess it's
better you trapped yourself in your own way"- The Used
"Today I fell, and felt better. Just knowing this
matters I just feel stronger, and sharper. Found a box of sharp objects what a beautiful thing"- The Used
"Well I can't regret, can't you just forget it? I
started something I couldnt finish. If we go down, we go down together. Best friends means, best friends means.."- Taking
Back Sunday
"And will you tell all your friends, you've got your
gun to my head? This all was only wishful thinking.."- Taking Back Sunday

Taking Back Sunday

Adam Lazzara- vocals
Mark O'Connell- drummer
Eddie Reyes- guitar
John Nolan- guitar
Saun Cooper- bass
-Taking Back Sunday formed in November of
1999 in Amityville, New York. Guitarist Eddie Reyes, formed the band along with the other memebers. They began doing shows
in local areas and recorded their first demo which had 5 songs. This demo was self released. Their album "Tell All Your Friends"
was released in March of 2002. This was the fastest selling record in Victory Records history. The band has appeared on Warped
tour and performed many shows with bands such as, Midtown, Grade, Brand New, The Starting Line and more.
-There have been many myths of where the band
got their name, but in the end no real explanation. Some of the ideas interviewers have come up with were: the old singer
liked a band who had a song called "taking back sunday", comes from a b-side song by the smiths, or no real reason.
-Song Titles: (Cute Without The E) comes from
one of their friends that was saying the words to anyone that said something stupid that night. (The Blue Channel) a reference
to the channel that is just blue because the network doesnt have anything scheduled for that time. (Great Romances of the
20th Century) a reference to a movie or tv show that was about that.
-Taking Back Sunday vs. Brand New: Jesse
Lacey, lead singer for Brand New and John Nolan for Taking Back Sunday were best friends throughout school. Both guys
had a relationship with a certain girl. The two of them became torn apart by her and didnt talk for quite a while. "There's
No I in Team", was written by John of TBS about the time him and Jesse were havin relationship problems. "Seventy Times 7",
written by Jesse of Brand New was about the same thing. Both songs used the line "..best friends mean..", but Brand New had
released theirs before TBS. This lead many to believe that TBS ripped off the song. The bands became to tour together and
since then there has been no new TBS/Brand New rivalry. In interviews, both bands say the same thing, that it was a problem
the two had over a girl and they didnt talk much after that. But later made up and put it in the past.
